An enthusiastic Dove
Our crazy 70% seppala, Dove

Few people are aware that within the Siberian Husky breed, there exists a sub-class breed commonly known as the Seppala, referring to the original dogs which Leonard Seppala ran. According to some people, Seppalas ought to not even be considered as Siberians, but as a completely separate breed.

These dogs are bred solely to run hard and fast. Appearance is of little importance. They are built with a much lighter bone structure than the show Siberians and although they may not be big, they are more than capable of pulling at great speeds. Because they where bred to be runners and often lived in remote areas, little attention was given to temperament, and so they often have more of a nervous personality. They are usually one-person dogs. Seppalas are also more likely to develop anxiety problems when left alone because of their clingy natures. They are not ideal house pets.

These pages are heavy with Seppala Siberian information.
